Diamonds truly are forever – this rare gift of the earth has been cherished through history since ancient civilizations.  Egyptians had fine taste when it came to jewelry; they were the first to create hoop earrings.  Babylonians, Assyrians, and Romans were all experts in fine jewelry crafting.   Around the 18th or 19th century, polishing tools had improved and the process of jewelry making improved dramatically,  making jewelry more accessible and more finely detailed than ever before.
While to today’s standards ancient jewelry is primitive to the distinguished tastes and detail of modern times, as well as all of the modern tools for jewelry crafting,  diamonds are just as popular for all assortments of jewelry and adornment like necklaces, bracelets, rings, and of course, earrings.
Diamond earrings can come in a number of styles and settings and are worn by both men and women. Likely the most popular style of diamond earring worn by both genders is the “Stud” which is a simple setting typically made of Gold or Platinum with a fine diamond solitaire at the edge.  Diamonds come in all shapes, sizes, cuts, and styles in Stud earrings, so it’s really a matter of personal taste.

Even when shopping online and finding the perfect diamond earrings, you will want to be sure to compare a similar grade and size of diamond in a store or with online competitors if you don’t know the market value.   Buying from reputable vendors is important as well and many of them market jewelry at deep discounts on Websites like Amazon.com or even Ebay.com.  Always purchase your diamond earrings from a retailer, online or physical store, that allows you to return your purchase!  Diamonds, Earrings, Ruby, Sapphire, Emeralds can all be appraised and it is a good idea to get your jewelry looked at by a professional if you have spent a significant amount of money on it.

The best diamond earrings will also have high quality facets and detail and sometimes the gold has tiny etchings to represent that the materials are genuine.  Be sure that the posts and settings are solid gold and not less than 18 carats.  Make sure the grade of the diamonds match their valuation, as well.   Purchasing Diamond Earrings online or in a store should always have an independent valuation that comes with it.  You can request this at the time of purchase so you can be sure that your jewelry is authentic and properly appraised!

A good jeweler will have an independent valuation on the diamond jewelery in the store, so ask to see it. If you don’t understand about the grade of diamonds, ask the salesperson to explain it to you fully.
